Isaac Hayden reveals shock name when asked for NUFC’s 3 fastest players over 100m – Watch here

Isaac Hayden claims NUFC skipper Jamaal Lascelles is one of the club’s quickest players.

This comes from his appearance on the club’s entertaining ‘teammates’ series, which sees him name Allan Saint-Maximin, DeAndre Yedlin and the Newcastle United centre-back as the club’s three speedsters.

While some may see Lascelles as our fastest mover at centre-back when he gets going, I don’t think many would believe claims he could mix it with Saint-Maximin and Yedlin in a 100m sprint – yet teammate Isaac Hayden does!

Here’s what he had to say when asked “100m sprint – who wins?” by NUFC TV:

“It’s a tight one.

“I think Allan, DeAndre, Jamaal as a race would be interesting.

“Three different characteristics of runners I think.

“Allan has got a bit of both. Good over 10 yards but can carry on for 30-40 yards.

“Jamaal is a slightly slow starter, but when he gets going he’s very, very, very quick.

“DeAndre is rapid over 10m, 20m, but can he continue it for 100m? I don’t know.

“It would be interesting to see, if everyone was fit and fresh, who’d win over 100m!”

Considering we have the likes of Miguel Almiron and Christian Atsu – two pacey players who weren’t even mentioned by Hayden – this shows how deceptively quick Lascelles must be!

After all, Hayden is someone who’ll be more aware than most of the skipper’s speed after a few years together at the club.

Who do you think would win a 100m sprint at Newcastle United?

  1. How often do we a player run 100 yards though? What matters is the burst of acceleration over 10-40 yards. That’s where pace really matters.
