Club want to sign NUFC loan star permanently – but Bruce has other ideas next season – Report

According to the Chronicle, Swansea are eager to sign Freddie Woodman on a permanent deal this summer following his impressive loan spell at the Liberty Stadium.

That said, they report that the England U-21 stopper will return to Tyneside this summer to fight for the no.1 spot, with the club expected to undergo a goalkeeping reshuffle now both Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot’s contracts are set to expire at the end of this season.

Not only that, the Chronicle state that it’s almost ‘inevitable’ that the club will have to fend off interest in Martin Dubravka this summer after his stunning season between the sticks – but hopefully Woodman’s return won’t give Ashley a reason to sell the Slovakian star.

Woodman has been in superb form for Swansea this season, with his 10 clean sheets helping the Swans move into play-off contention.

Not only that, he’s also saved TWO penalties in as many weeks, stopping Aleksandar Mitrovic last week and earning a point at Blackburn over the weekend by saving Danny Graham’s second half spot kick.

  1. So what’s Steve Bruce’s plan for him then? Not sure the article matches the headline and seems another poke in the dark with no mention of a Fakeover lol.
    Woodman for England.
