Journalist claims Premier League big spenders set to make Allan Saint-Maximin move

Everton are planning to make a summer move for Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin – if an ‘exclusive’ from the Sun’s Ken Lawrence is to be believed.

The reporter claims Carlo Ancelotti went to watch him during our 3-2 win over West Brom last week – and will have been impressed by the winger if true, with him going on to bag two assists in our FA Cup clash at the Hawthorns.

Lawrence also reports that Crystal Palace are also keen on the 22-year-old, viewing him as a potential replacement for star winger Wilfried Zaha. That said, I don’t see Saint-Maximin swapping St James’ for Selhurst Park anytime soon!

Worryingly, it wouldn’t surprise me if a free-spending and ambitious club like Everton or Wolves (who’ve already been linked) came in with a big offer this summer – and there’s always a fear we’d sell should you know who get the chance to double his money!

The Sun claim he’ll now be rated around the £30m mark, but it would surely take more than that to sign the talented 22-year-old in this day and age.

Interest in the explosive Frenchman seems inevitable this summer, with his pace, skill and superb dribbling catching the eye during his first season in England, however Mike Ashley would be a fool to cash in on the club’s most popular player less than 12 months after his arrival from Nice.

Considering how well liked he’s been, for his entertaining approach both on and off the pitch, let’s hope he sticks around a while longer yet.

  1. I’ve never read utter rubbish and specially if it is in the Sun it must be true (not!) More absolutely speculative bollocks by that rag and 30 million in today’s day and age would not buy his left boot and Everton makes it even more hilarious
