Jetro Willems has dropped yet another hint that he could yet return to Newcastle United this summer.
The Dutchman’s loan move from Frankfurt was cut short in January after he ruptured his ACL during a 1-0 win over Chelsea, however he’s made more than one comment since that suggests that won’t be the last time he plays for the club.
This comes from his birthday message to Allan Saint-Maximin, who turned 23 yesterday, which saw him say…’can’t wait to bring that danger on the left with you again’ – hinting they’ll be linking up on the pitch again before long.
Here’s what he sent the Frenchman last night:
This isn’t the first time he’s hinted at a potential return to the club either, with him stating “Can’t wait to get back on the pitch” just last week when posting a picture of him arriving at St James’ Park:
The injury is a bad one and is likely to rule him out for most of the summer, but he’s still only 25 and has overcome a knee issues once before in his career.
He was outstanding during his loan spell, giving us quality in the final third and defending well at the other end too, with many quite rightfully believing he’s outshone Danny Rose, based on what we’ve seen so far.
Hopefully he continues to make good progress during rehab and something can be arranged this summer with Frankfurt – who may be more inclined to agree to a knock-down fee with Newcastle United following his latest injury.
