Newcastle plan to sign striker, loan star, winger & midfielder this summer – Report

Steve Bruce has asked head of recruitment Steve Nickson to deliver the signings of a striker, winger and midfielder this summer, according to the Chronicle.

Lee Ryder’s piece also claims that the Newcastle boss hopes to turn Danny Rose’s loan move into a permanent one, suggesting he’s planning to make at least FOUR signings when the window opens.

The report claims Nickson has been forced to suspend planned scouting trips and meetings with ‘agents’ in Germany, Spain, Holland and Italy, yet states that the ‘bulk’ of our summer planning has already been done – suggesting we are ready to make moves for the targets lined up.

Although Bruce is clearly pushing to sort out our left-back situation, with Willems’ future now in doubt and Rose only here until the end of the season, it seems his three priorities going into the transfer window are up top, out wide and in central midfield.

It’s clear our biggest issue is the lack of goals corers at the club – meaning the signing of a striker should. be priority no.1 – however our reliance on Saint-Maximin and the lack of depth behind him and Almiron means another quality wide man is also essential.

In central midfield, we have a few decent options, but perhaps an upgrade on Hayden will be looked at, not forgetting the fact Sean Longstaff’s dip in form, Matty’s potential exit and the fact Nabil Bentaleb has done little to earn a permanent move so far.

If we’re to sign a striker, winger and midfielder this summer, who would you like to see us go for?

  1. Lee Ryder’s article’s are based on his opinion with no information from anyone inside the club. I don’t know why people take notice of them or give them exposure by re running them.
