Toon For Change send ‘urgent’ message to Mike Ashley as coronavirus crisis hits NUFC fans

Protest group Toon For Change have ‘urgently’ called for Newcastle United to suspend all season ticket direct debits.

They insist that fans should NOT be expected to pay during the coronavirus pandemic, with ‘thousands’ of fans left with financial difficulties given so many of lost their source of income during the crisis.

Here’s what they’ve had to say:

“We urgently call on @NUFC to suspend all season ticket direct debits.

“Fans should not be expected to pay whilst the country faces a national emergency.

“Thousands of fans have lost their income and suspending ST direct debits will give some relief in these difficult times.”

Considering Mike Ashley was shamelessly trying to keep his Sports Direct stores open just last night, I’m not holding my breath, however it goes without saying that direct debits should be suspended.

Not only have several fans fallen on hard times, there’s no football being played at St James’ Park – and it doesn’t look likely to return anytime soon.

For once Mike, do the right thing..
