The bad press continues to mount on Mike Ashley today, with a Sports Direct making some damning claims about the disgraced NUFC owner.
The worker, who’s identity has been kept private for obvious reasons, has revealed that they’ve been forced to work, threatened that they won’t be paid and provided with no hand sanitiser while on the job during an ‘exclusive’ chat with PoliticalLite.
The piece – which you can read in full here – also provides proof that the sports retail giant were looking to hike up the prices of weights, skipping ropes and resistance belts in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Here are the Sports Direct worker’s shocking quotes in full:
“I’m a salaried staff member at Sports Direct.”
“We are being forced to work at least 36 hours a week (our contract is 50 hours) or we will not be paid.”
“So far the 80% from the government isn’t even an option. The only options are come into work or get nothing.”
“The atmosphere is very tense. We’re all scared about the future.
“We’re scared about getting sick”
“I’m in work right now. I’ve been here since 7am and I’m not allowed to leave until 5.”
“He doesn’t care at all.
“We didn’t even get any cleaning supplies or hand sanitiser sent to us.”
Absolutely scandalous, yet comments that will not surprise most Newcastle United fans, sadly.
In light of this latest scandal I will reiterate what I said in my piece yesterday – he is nothing but a gluttonous opportunist – something that Newcastle fans have known for over a decade!
Sports Direct appear to be the company hit hardest in the press following the coronavirus outbreak, with cabinet ministers, local MP’s and even Piers Morgan laying their teeth into the company’s regime.
Our fanbase’s hearts must bleed for Mike at this very difficult time. What a moron.
