I never thought I’d find myself passionately agreeing with Piers Morgan, but I was proved very wrong this morning!
After Mike Ashley attempted to keep his stores open (via classing his staff as ‘key workers’ in a bid to make more money) and also hiked up the prices of Sports Directs indoor fitness equipment by ‘more than 50%’, he’s now been slammed live on TV by Piers Morgan on Wednesday morning.
Watch the clip here from ITV’s Good Morning Britain earlier today, followed by the full quotes from Morgan’s rant:
“We will remember the companies which stepped up, took care of their employees and their customers.
“And we will remember the ones who abused their employees, made them work when they weren’t essential and who abused their customers with this kind of outrageous fleecing.
“I don’t want to hear from Sports Direct about any explanation that justifies this.
‘We know what you did.
“You have been exposed and you should just shut your stores.
“And frankly, if after this you are still doing business, well good luck to customers that forgive you for this because I won’t.
“I think that’s disgusting.’
Here’s some of the examples of Mike Ashley’s attempts to fleece the nation in the midst of a global crisis:
It’s absolutely disgraceful yet so typical of him, showing once again that the man only cares about one thing – money.
At a time where so many are in a state of panic, with either stress or financial hardship taking over across the country, this really is a disgusting move.
Hopefully there’s a genuine backlash this time and people stop shopping at ALL of his stores once this eventually blows over.
He’s not only an awful club owner, but a horrible human being.
