NUFC chiefs agree to sanction double-deal for midfield duo – Bruce a ‘huge fan’ – Report

According to an ‘exclusive’ from TEAMtalk, Steve Bruce is keen to secure the signings of Burnley duo Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady this summer – for absolutely nothing!

The pair cost Burnley just over £20m between them, but their contracts are set to expire in the summer – and it’s claimed Bruce is a ‘huge fan’ of both.

Hendrick and Brady are both 28 – meaning their arrivals would go against the club’s current transfer policy – but the piece states a move for both ‘appeals to Newcastle’s hierarchy’, with Bruce believing the duo can offer ‘versatility and cover’ – no surprises there!

To say TEAMtalk are hit and miss with their transfer ‘exclusives’ would be an understatement, however the signing of two Premier League players on a free may well be right up Ashely’s street.

Personally, I would rather see us move for players that are hungry to improve and have bags of potential – take Saint-Maximin for example – rather than go for bang average Premier League players unlikely to improve us.

On the flip side, they could give our squad that extra bit of depth, but it’s hardly inspiring – and a rumour I wouldn’t get too carried away with in the first place.

I’m taking this one with a pinch of salt!
