NUFC ‘very interested’ in striker – & will go to ‘great lengths’ to get him when window reopens – Report

According to reports in Belgium, Newcastle are ‘very interested’ in signing Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis.

This comes from Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant, who claim we’re prepared to go to ‘great lengths’ to sign the Club Brugge star whenever the transfer window reopens.

The 22-year-old was linked with a move to St James’ Park in January, with reports suggesting a ‘£25m bid’ was made.

Those claims were played down by the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, however leading Belgian outlet HLN have since confirmed that we’ve had scouts watching him closely this season.

Dennis is a versatile forward who can play up top or down either wing, and bagged 9 goals and 2 assists in 33 appearances for Brugge over the 2019/20 season.

His goals have been key, with Belgian chiefs deciding this week that Brugge will be crowned champions after agreeing to cancel their season and name them as league winners (they’re currently 15 points clear), however his record is hardly prolific.

He has bags of pace and enjoyed some impressive moments in Europe this season – scoring a brace at the Bernabeu and bagging against Man Utd in the Europa League – but he sounds like another big risk and a player who’s hardly guaranteed to score goals at this level.
