Lee Ryder has confirmed Newcastle United’s interest in Alfredo Morelos following claims he could be available at a cut-price fee when the transfer window reopens.
In his latest piece for the Chronicle, Ryder reveals that Steve Bruce is ‘a fan’ and showed interest in the Colombian hitman in January – only for Rangers to show no interest in selling their star man midway through their challenge for the SPL title.
A few months later, it’s now being reported that he could be available for as little as £13m this summer, with the Scottish giants set to be hit badly by the COVID-19 crisis.
That said, it looks like we’ll face ‘intense competition’ should we pursue a move for the prolific 23-year-old, with several La Liga clubs, Leicester, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa all said to be interested alongside ourselves – this according to Goal.
Morelos has bagged 59 goals over the past two seasons, with 29 coming in all competitions across 2019/20 – including 6 goals in Ranger’s run to the Europa League knockout stages.
One to watch when the transfer window eventually reopens and a potential cut-price alternative to fellow SPL star Odsonne Edouard?
