Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United have ‘no plans’ to follow Liverpool and reverse their decision to put the club’s staff on furlough leave, according to Martin Hardy of The Times.
Liverpool made a dramatic U-turn last night following the backlash received for telling staff to adhere to the Government Retention Scheme, claiming they had ‘got it wrong.’
We were the first Premier League team to place staff on furlough leave – no surprise there – and this news comes while direct debit payments for season tickets are still being taken, another criticism Ashley has had levelled his way.
Make no mistake here, Liverpool changed their tune to protect their global brand, but the fact that Newcastle United are simply not bothered about the situation just shows you everything you need to know about Ashley’s character.
The sooner this parasite of a businessman has nothing to do with NUFC, the better!
It’s not Ashley there’s thousands like him it’s the premier league greed and self preservation is going to attract arseholes and in return kill football
