Sky Sports make huge Rafa Benitez claim as Staveley & Saudis close in on £300m takeover

A big Rafa Benitez hint has emerged from Sky Sports’ Keith Downie in the last few moments.

Speaking on Sky Sports News this afternoon, he’s stated it’s “almost inevitable” that Amanda Staveley and the Saudi-backed consortium bidding to buy Newcastle United will make a move for Rafa Benitez if and when a deal goes through.

Here’s what Sky’s north-east correspondent has had to say in the last few moments when asked the following question during a Q&A session on the proposed NUFC takeover in the last few moments:

Q: Given how much Staveley wanted Benitez to be the manager in 2017/18 do you think likely they will make approach for him to return?

So, not only does he insist he’d be “very surprised” if the potential new owners don’t make another move for the Spaniard, he feels it would be an offer the former Newcastle boss couldn’t turn down.

One to watch if a deal does go through in the coming days/weeks!

Would you like to see Rafa back at the helm?

  2. Bruce has done just a good as a job as Benitez… I think we need a more modern thinking manager to take us forward.

Bruce vs Rafa… not sure either could take us back to the Keegan/Robson heights.

  8. Rafa is currently one of the highest pais managers in the world on 12 million a year.

So we would bring him back and pay him more? How much 15 million?

15 million a year for a manager who played the most boring football ever seen in the Prem, only just kept us in the Prem, and is being out performed by Steve Bruce?

    Don’t think so

  9. I would much prefer to leave Rafa where he is, I heard alot of bad vibes about him pushing to many people atbthe club and not many of the team wanted to play for him. He is poison and would much prefer SB to stay in the seat if we cant get Poncho Poch

  11. Steve Bruce deserves a crack at the whip, give him another season, at the end of the day if we are going to spend big on transfers then even I could manage a winning team all bought and paid for.

RB has proved that he cant manage a winning team on minimum resources so that really tells me he is not a GREAT manager and the be all and end all is that he is a greedy fat controller who needs to stay away from this country let alone the premier league.???

Come on SB fight for your rights and get a crack at it.???
