Many fans, myself included, have been screaming for an official club statement about the takeover, even going as far as criticising Mike Ashley one last time for not doing so.
Now, if the Daily Mail is to be believed, it is actually the Saudis and Staveley who are wanting to remain tight-lipped on the situation.
Craig Hope’s ‘exclusive’ last night reports that Ashley was just ‘hours’ away from releasing a statement to confirm a £300m sale when the soon-to-be owners decided to pull the plug on an announcement due to it not being 100% completed – with it being the business custom in Saudi to only confirm a deal when it’s official.
It would’ve been nice to get an update from those involved – especially the unpredictable Mike Ashley – but this seems like a fair approach given we are still waiting for that final green light.
The last hurdle left to climb is the Premier League’s ‘fit and proper person’ test, but it is not expected to be a concern.
With both parties staying silent and journalists filling in the blanks, it has caused a small dose of anxiety among our supporters, yet it’s become increasingly clear this week that a deal is imminent and a case of when, not if.
It is hard to do, especially while the country is in lockdown, but we need to bide our time, relax, and wait a fortnight or so for this to all be finalised!
Cynicism remains from previous ‘failed’ attempts and Ashley’s history, but it really is looking good this time..
This takeover is now making sense to why Mike Ashley appointed Steve Bruce as the manager.
He took the cheaper option as he knew he was going to sell up in 2020 and it meant he was getting a manager on the cheap.

Are you forgetting Stephen that there is LEGAL documentation with the Premier League signed by ALL parties including the Fat Man so that document is legally binding and it means even the Fat Man can’t pull the plug on this and the prospective new owners are going through the Premier League’s fit and proper person test and that is the last hurdle that the PL make them do oh and what about the Saudi owner at Sheffield United has anybody even checked his credentials so you lot can get off your high horse and eat humble pie when this DOES happen and say you were wrong and if it doesn’t then I will eat humble pie but surely George you don’t still want the Fat Man to be in charge do you as he will just keep running the club into the ground and I think all other fans who hate the FCB will back me up so don’t come on here and say there will be no takeover when you don’t know all the facts.
