Lee Charnley set to follow Mike Ashley out of the NUFC exit door ahead of Saudi takeover – Report

Lee Charnley’s days at NUFC appear to be numbered, with the Daily Mail revealing that he’ll leave his position at St James’ Park following the handover period

Craig Hope’s ‘exclusive‘ reveals that he will stay on in the short-term, agreeing to stay during the handover period, but that his 20-year stint at the club will come to an end after discussions with the Saudi-backed consortium.

Charnley has been managing director since 2013, after previously serving as the club secretary, and his role at the club effectively sees him as the middleman between Ashley and the manager.

It’s fair to say 99% of Newcastle fans will be glad to see the back of him, myself included, as he is perceived to be a “yes man” that symbolises exactly what is wrong with our club during the Ashley era.

His one sole positive deed for us was how he somehow managed to coax Rafa to the club. Goodness knows how he managed that!

Let’s hope the end of Charnley is a defining step into the dawn of a fresh new era for our football club.

  1. If Sky sports and BT didn’t charge so much for watching live games people wouldn’t stream on pirate stations and to b honest the picture quality is horrendous anyway lol. It goes on everywhere even wit newly released films been going on for years and will continue to but its old news. There’s some very jealous people out there who can’t stand the fact the toon are being bought out by billionaires, there will always b controversy at nufc I mean look at the Ashley circus performers.

  2. Mmmm..Keys and Gray getting involved in human rights issues..If I remember they were pushed out of Sky for sexual remarks to women !! (Hypocrisy) ? Also think Pif will have sorted issue of piracy with premium league already.. maybe future Saudis TV deal that will blow Quatar TV deal out of the water ..

  3. I wouldn’t give Charnley too much credit for “coaxing Rafa to the club”. I seem to remember Rafa offered his services as he saw the club as a project, a view neither Charnley or Ashley shared.
