NUFC loan star reveals plan to sign, hints at takeover dilemma & names our best player in brilliant Q&A

Yesterday, former Newcastle United loan star Jetro Willems took part in his own question and answer session on social media – and some of his responses to curious Toon fans were brilliant.

The Dutchman – who’s now back at Frankfurt recovering from a serious knee injury suffered in January – revealed his wish to sign permanently at Newcastle this summer, but hinted that the situation is up in the air ahead of a potential Saudi takeover.

He also gives an injury update, names our most talented player, his best memory of his season on Tyneside and opens up about the first time we showed interest in signing him.

Here’s all of his best responses, along with the questions he was asked by Newcastle fans on Twitter last night:

Question: Please come back in the summer with the new owners? Saint-Maximin is missing you.

Jetro Willems: “Everyone wants or hopes that I come back or a sign a permanent deal at NUFC, but I think it’s more a question for the club if they want me back..”

Question: What do you want?

Jetro Willems: “To sign and play for NUFC.”

Question: Most talented player at NUFC?

Jetro Willems: “Matty Longstaff.”

Question: What do you most enjoy about playing for Newcastle United?

Jetro Willems: “The people, the people who work for the club, the city and last but not least the fans.

Question: Newcastle misses you mate! Hopefully the new owners get you signed up! How’s the injury?

Jetro Willems: “I’m doing well. Healthy and safe! Thanks, reaction of the knee is going well. I’m on the right track to come back stronger

Question: What’s the timeline on your return to full football action mate after all rehab is done with?

Jetro Willems:August/ September I’m game ready.”

Question: Who’s the funniest player at NUFC?

Jetro Willems: “Allan Saint-Maximin. He’s the funniest

Question: Favourite NUFC moment?

Jetro Willems: “Arsenal home game! Nah, I’m joking. The goal against Liverpool.”

Question: When did NUFC first make contact with you to join? Was it before the change of management?

Jetro Willems: “I don’t remember, it (the interest) went wayback to when Gini (Wijnaldum) went to NUFC.”

Some brilliant responses from the 26-year-old, who not only seems a real character but a player who’s desperate to return to Newcastle United for all the right reasons.

One of the best loan signings we’ve made in recent years and someone I’d LOVE to see us sign permanently this summer – with our without new owners!

After a brilliant season was ended short by a devastating knee injury, I sincerely hope he gets his wish.
