George Caulkin sends message to anxious NUFC fans after day of silence on £300m takeover

It’s strangely quiet on social media today, but it seems the silence may well be golden as far as a potential Saudi takeover is concerned.

Many wondered if today would be the day a £300m deal is announced, however it’s all gone quiet – but not in a bad way it would seem.

As ever, fans have been firing 20 questions at reliable North-East reporter George Caulkin, and one of his responses in the last few moments has been hugely reassuring for anyone concerned.

He insists that ‘nobody thinks the test are an issue’, stating that he’s ‘not stressing at all’ about whether or not they’ll be given Premier League approval:

This follow on from Mark Douglas’ positive message last night, which explained why there was “nothing to suggest” the Saudi-backed consortium will fail to receive Premier League approval.

Given this is the final hurdle between them ending Mike Ashley’s 13-year reign and becoming our new owners or not, it feels like this deal really is imminent – no matter how many letters are received from Amnesty International BeIN Sports.

  1. It’s been a quiet day ?

It’s been quiet ever since this story broke with neither side involved saying anything and only some vague regurgitated stories by Journalists, Reporters etc
This is being too built up for my liking and we will see what happens now that Kim Jong-Un, Er sorry Mike Ashley has supposedly touched back down in Blighty !

  2. If the deal wasn’t ongoing the Premier League would have said so when Amnesty Int etc wrote to them

  3. Re: new bid… Reckon if genuine , Could be a last ditch attempt by anti Saudi group to arrange a fictitious bid trying to derail current take over … Sure it’s too little too late either way now …
