Ajax star receives ‘concrete interest’ from NUFC – & he’s keen if Saudis appoint top manager – Report

Another new name has been linked with a potential summer switch to St James’ Park if and when a £300m Saudi-backed takeover is completed.

This time it’s Ajax star Donny van de Beek, with Le10Sport claiming we have made ‘concrete progress’ on the midfielder in recent days after the imminent arrival of Saudi investment has allowed the club to see a ‘field of opportunities’ open up on the transfer front.

The same report does state that the Dutch international has received interest from Everton and Real Madrid, but reports that he’d be ‘attracted‘ to a potential switch to St James’ Park should a big name manager like Rafa Benitez or Mauricio Pochettino be appointed.

Another potentially exciting transfer link, but more talk that’s hard to process given A) a takeover hasn’t been officially announced, B) we don’t yet know who’ll be our manager moving forward and C) it’s unclear when the transfer window will open during this COVID-19 crisis.

Le10Sport say Ajax are yet to receive any official approaches, but suggest the would-be new owners of Newcastle United have already put the feelers out to the 23-year-old himself.
