Edinson Cavani has been told to ignore potential interest from Newcastle United – by Uruguayan compatriot Darío Silva.
Ahead of a £300m takeover, an ‘exclusive’ from French outlet Foot Mercato claimed the 33-year-old was a ‘dream signing’ for the Saudis, with them eyeing a bargain as he prepares to leave PSG on a free this summer.
He’s one of many big name players to be linked with a shock move to St James’ Park over the last fortnight, however he’s been urged to reject us should we come calling this summer.
Speaking to Il Posticipo, here’s what the former Uruguayan international striker has said:
“I dream of seeing Cavani at Real Madrid. I hope he doesn’t go to Newcastle,”
“I think Florentino [Perez] is not interested in the footballer, but I would like to see him wear the white shirt. Cavani is similar to me. He has speed, power and character.”
In reality, this is one to take with a pinch of salt for now, with us yet to be given a full insight into the Saudis ambitions ahead of their seemingly imminent arrival at St James’ Park.
After all, he’ll have plenty huge offers come in for him if and when he leaves PSG on a free this summer, so we may struggle to attract him – no matter how big the prospective new owner’s purses are!
