Saudis set to offer staggering £19m deal to ‘no.1 target’ Mauricio Pochettino – Sky Sports

According to Sky Sports News, Mauricio Pochettino has been named the Saudis “no.1 manager target” ahead of a £300m takeover at St James’ Park – and they’re willing to pay BIG to get him.

They also report that the out-of-work Argentinian – who left Spurs last year – will be offered a staggering £19m-per-year to take over on Tyneside; a deal which could make him the THIRD highest paid manager in the world.

These claims have just emerged from Sky presenter Pete Graves on Twitter in the last few moments, with him confirming that full details are to come on Sky Sports News shortly.

Here’s what he’s tweeted in the last few moments:

“Sources have told Sky Sports News that Mauricio Pochettino is the number one manager target for NUFC next season, should the Saudi backed consortium complete their takeover.

“Full details including further details on finances etc to come on SSN today.

“Stay tuned…”

Interestingly, his colleague and fellow North-East reporter Keith Downie dropped a strong hint a few weeks ago that Rafa Benitez would be targeted – stating a move for the Spaniard was ‘almost inevitable’ – however it seems the former Spurs boss will be the would-be new owner top target.

Full details are yet to be revealed, but Sky Sports have previously stated that Steve Bruce will be given until the end of the season, so it seems any move for Pochettino would be made with the START of the 2020/21 season in mind.

This would be SOME statement of intent. Exciting times!
