New report claims 6 Premier League players are on NUFC’s radar ahead of Saudi takeover

According to 90min, the would-be owners of Newcastle United are keen to in invest in British talent when the transfer window re-opens.

The same report also names the group of Premier League players believed to be on their ‘homegrown hit list’ – not that all of them are particularly inspiring options.

Norwich trio Todd Cantwell, Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis are all mentioned, as is Aston Villa’s John McGinn, Manchester City’s John Stones and Manchester United outcast Chris Smalling.

They also claim that a ‘source has told 90min‘ has told them that, despite links with several top players across Spain, Italy and France, the prospective new owners plan to primarily target British players in a bid to build the backbone of their team.

An interesting concept and a few talented players linked, but another rumour that must be taken with a pinch of salt given A) a deal isn’t done just yet and B) we don’t know who our long-term manager is going to be, making plans regarding transfers a little premature.
