Saudi-led consortium already planning to bring several club legends back to NUFC – Report

According to Lee Ryder, the Saudi-backed consortium closing in on a £300m takeover at Newcastle United are already planning to reconnect with a host of club legends.

As we all know too well, the current regime have done anything but over the past 13 years, with the likes of Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer being treat with a complete and utter lack of respect by Mike Ashley.

While The Chronicle’s chief writer insists that it’s too early to know if such figures would consider back-room roles or ambassadorial positions at the club, Ryder insists that the would-be buyers have already identified NUFC’s relationship with former greats as an area which must be ‘vastly improved’.

This comes after The Mirror wrote an eye-catching ‘exclusive’ last month claiming Kevin Keegan will be offered the chance to become a club ambassador, with former assistant Terry McDermott also tipped to join him should the Saudis seize control.

Once this takeover is eventually announced and news of Mike Ashley’s exit is made official, hopefully we see Keegan back in an ambassadorial role, club legends attending games regularly and welcomed back with open arms and, who knows, maybe even the ‘NINE’ bar revert back to ‘Shearer’s’ bar!

After years of apathy, little hope and wishing we could have our club back, it would be a brilliant first move to see some familiar faces back where they belong – inside St James’ Park!

  1. There would be such a buzz in the city after the takeover – Then add to that with the return of Kevin Keegan and others… I wouldnt even know what to say!
