Journalist says £300m takeover finally 'given the go ahead' & official announcement now 'imminent'

According to John Richardson - a North-East reporter for The Mirror - "reliable Middle East sources" are now claiming that a Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle United is "imminent".

Richardson shared the 'news' on Twitter just moments ago, claiming an official announcement will now follow after a £300m deal was 'given the go ahead' by the Premier League:

With this in mind, it suggests Premier League approval may have finally arrived - meaning the only hurdle left would be to simply send the funds over to Mike Ashley.

Only time will tell if these big claims prove to be true, however he isn't the only journalist who's been speaking bullishly about a potential deal today, with George Caulkin stating it 'will' happen - also saying he's "sure it’ll be given the green light".

There was a lot of negative noise last week, but since then we've had a wave of silence (which is often seen to be golden in situations like this) and seen the Premier League make progress with the 2019/20 season and 'Project Restart', meaning they may have finally been able to focus on ratifying this £300m takeover over the past few days.

IF they are true and approval really has arrived, next week really could be the week, with it likely to take a good few working days for the £300m to transfer over to Mike Ashley's bank account.

Is it finally time to get those cans out? I wouldn't be darting for the fridge just yet, but these are more convincing claims from reputable reporters..
