Forget the Saudis for a second, it’s time the Premier League took a good look at this man…

As every Newcastle United fan under the sun will know, all the talk on Tyneside is currently centred around whether the Premier League will or will not approve a £300m Saudi-backed takeover at St James’ Park.

It’s the big question we’ve been waiting to hear the answer to for what feels like a lifetime now, however the ongoing delay allows us to focus our attentions elsewhere for a moment.

I won’t name names, but a piece was released today from a Newcastle United site urging the Premier League to BLOCK the proposed buyout. An awful take on a situation that’s frustrating enough as it is, yet there is one person they need to take a good look at – Mike Ashley.

We talk about their ‘fit and proper person’s test’ to determine whether a potential new owner is deemed suitable to own a Premier League club – something the Saudi-backed consortium are currently being scrutinised over – yet the latest actions of our shameless owner tell me he needs seriously looking at.

The list of unacceptable decisions he’s made over the years is endless, but his latest act of carelessness should not be tolerated, with today being yet another sad reminder that he’s STILL charging fans and refusing to issue refunds for season ticket payments – both for this season and the 2020/21 campaign.

Both he and the club continue to hide behind a potential takeover, instead of communicating with fans who are the ones left to suffer yet again – in more ways than one on this occasion.

These times are tough enough as it is, but leaving loyal fans out of pocket and in the dark when we now know the 2019/20 season will be played behind closed doors is unacceptable.

Other clubs have already issues refunds/stopped payments given most clubs are set to play over a quarter of their home league games behind closed doors. They’re showing us up.

Not only that, refunds are yet to be issued (or even addressed) for the tens of thousands of ticket sold for our postponed FA Cup clash with Manchester City at St James’ Park or the away trip to Bournemouth.

In typical Newcastle United style under Mike Ashley, we are the ones left behind. Ignored, neglected and cheated, with several protest groups such as the NUST and Toon For Change also seeing letters of complaint fall on deaf ears.

Is anyone listening? Or is he just going to keep on getting away with it while this ‘imminent’ takeover continues to drag on? This is a club that have just announced a profit after tax of £34.7m…

At a time where the Saudis are being scrutinised by every man and his dog on a daily basis, isn’t it time Mike Ashley was questioned about the club’s complete lack of communication and constant exploitation of fans?

If I was paying for a service and that service was no longer being provided in any other walk of life, I’d have every right to expect action to be taken and repercussions for the business involved.

The severity of the accusations may seem insignificant when compared to *some* of the claims being made about the Saudis, but it’s ironic that the Premier League have been inundated with complaints against our would-be new owners, all while they’ve allowed Mike Ashley to get away with murder for 13 years, watching on as he single handedly runs a football club into the ground after over a decade of neglect, betrayal and a total lack of investment and communication.

Protest groups have sent letters, statements have been released and there’s been widespread dismay voiced on social media. If no one will listen to that, perhaps it’s time a greater power gave our disgraced owner the kick up the backside he deserves.

  1. History is what makes countries what they are, people who they are and shapes absolutely everything around us. Airbrushing out certain parts of our history just to please some idiotic liberals who are as narrow minded as the most bigoted of people wouldn’t help their supposed cause and certainly wouldn’t help future generations.

Our Young should be taught about our history. Taught about how we treated people and places. The good we did in countries as well as the bad. Maybe it would give them a more balanced view on British people who have a different coloured skin to theirs?

  3. Stewie Thatcher will think that a no interest rate Govt loan is well deserved for Danny Levy and the Glazers (Spurs and Man u). They help us all out after all.

  5. I don’t see what’s wrong with business’ getting government loans to help them out due to a problem caused by government action. What’s wrong with that? Given the interest base rates currently 0.5% is fair.

  7. The more I am reading about George Lloyd the more I am realising that he’s far from worthy of all these protests. In fact I’d say his suppose legacy is going to be far more impressive than he actually deserves. He was a complete vile individual. He obviously didn’t deserve to end his life like he did but Jesus Christ – if the media and the protestors keep going they’ll be Starting the beautification process shortly.

Saw some stats this evening. Black males account for 44% of violent crime in the US. Given They represent only 6% of the population that’s not a good stat. How do they solve that? How do they get a culture and society that reverses that stat?

There’s some serious facts people need to look at and accept before they move forward.

You know that most of us cannot get loans at the Govt base rate Stewie Thatcher. Unless you have property or other assets to back it it up the rate is usually a credit card rate of 10% or more.

Tell me what you pay for your business to get loans and I will laugh in your face if you say it is 0.5%.

  9. We haven’t got any loans, Eric. But as I said, business have been effectively told to shut up shop by the government so I don’t believe a low interest loan from the government is out of the question. Why should business’ suffer?

Sharpy – you should have a look on Twitter to see the liberal luvvies making excuses for them. Luke Edwards even saying anybody who says the hashtag should be all lives matter instead of black lives matter are hiding their own racist views. Lineker also spouting his usual…

  11. Over here the “prime” interest rate is 3.25%. Most of us with the best credit ratings get prime plus 2%. So that is 5.25%. Spurs and Man U are loaning money from the govt at zero point .5%.

But Stewie “True Blue” Thatcher thinks that is all hunky dory and fine and dandy and is not paid for by taxes.

You know I agree about how the US and UK govt have mismanaged this health crisis. It is one thing we have agreed upon. Steve Bruce for the sack might be the other, although I haven’t seen you say anything on that. Ryder being a **** writer, but you never said anything about that either – so I will just assume you agree with me 🙂

  14. Eric – you can borrow money here for less than 1.5% to buy a house. The government are paid by investors to borrow money on bond markets. Spurs loan really isn’t anything too onerous considering it’s not their fault why their business isn’t bringing in revenue.

Seems government can’t win these days…

Really? 1.5%. I dont believe you. it is not even worth the paperwork for that rate.

A 1 year rate for the people putting up collateral. I will look it up.

  18. Anthony Joshua made a speech at a BLM demo yesterday in which he said black people should stop spending money in white owned shops and only buy from black owned shops. Isn’t that a tad racist these days? But what’s it matter – we live in a world where blacks people cant be racist it seems to me…

a bloody good point mate well said

  20. Stu, Did you watch the speech in full and understand the context of the quote ?
Did you notice he also said it should be a peaceful demo and not be used for selfish reasons of rioting and looting ?
    He said

“We need to speak out in peaceful demonstrations just like today. So well done Watford, inject the vaccine.

“We must not use the demonstration for selfish motives and turn it into rioting and looting. We need to be united in nonviolent demonstrations.

“Show them where it hurts, abstain from spending your money in their shops and economies, and invest in black-owned businesses.

“And that’s for all communities if you want to uplift yourselves, invest in your own businesses.

“We have to engage with the youth – I completely agree with that – and put an end to black youth gang culture.

“Unless you wanna be sitting in jail, spending years upon years of your only life that you have thinking about ‘yeah, they can lock the locks but they can’t stop the clocks’. That’s all done because there’s too much cameras, too much intelligence.

“All the OGs that I know are telling me ‘bro it’s finished, it’s finished’. Gang life is finished and that’s what we’re saying.

“I know that I’m not promoting no gangster business. I’m a legit, straight forward hustler – that’s just in my DNA and in my blood.

“But I know I’ve taken my street knowledge and put it into the corporate world and I’ve gained a lot of respect in that sense. So anyway, gang culture is done.

What i felt he was saying is that if white people and business take no action to stop racism then hit them where it hurts. Don’t invest in their businesses or buy from their shops.
    He says invest in yourselves
“And that’s for all communities if you want to uplift yourselves, invest in your own businesses.”
Isn’t that the very thing Sharpy mentioned yesterday ? You have to graft for it, break the cycle ?

It’s not even Anthony’s speech, he was reading it on behalf of someone who couldn’t be there.

I also notice on GMB this morning they spoke about Edward Colston and also mentioned blackboy hill and Whiteladies road in Bristol and the links to slave trade.
They are incorrect on the meaning of that hill and road.
Blackboy hill is named after a pub as is whiteladies road ( The Blackboy inn ) and ( White lady inn ) The Blackboy inn was named after Charles the second as he had Black hair and was known as the black boy, there were many pubs with that name after the restoration.
White lady inn isn’t so clear as to how it got it’s name, though it’s widely accepted that it has no link to slavery and that it’s an urban myth that it was.

Just to show you that there is so much mis infomation out there on both sides of the argument.

  21. ***! Talk about cringeworthy.

A privileged middle class white man can’t go to the pub! Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable, and this is equal in importance with black deaths in custody, open murder of blacks on the streets of ‘the worlds greatest democracy’, institutional racism, incredible inequality in every facet of life imaginable.

You’d think that a nation that built its wealth on destroying the economies of India and China and a good portion of Africa would have a little twinge of conscience about the fate of fellow human beings.

But no. A middle class white guy can’t get pissed so everybody is a ****.

Sometimes you guys are just unbelievable. I really can’t take you seriously. Except Kimtoon – the one and only voice of humanity on this site … oh, yes, sorry, Premandup as well.

Even the Australophobic dumbfuck from Chicago looks like the height of reason by comparison.
