Newcastle United stepped up their preparations for the long awaited return of Premier League football today with a 3-2 win over Middlesbrough at the club’s training ground.
Boro duo George Saville and Britt Assombalonga gave the visitors a 0-2 lead in the behind-closed-doors clash in Benton, however Yoshinori Muto, Miguel Almiron and Joelinton all found the net to complete the comeback.
Here’s all of our goals, starting with a low drive from forgotten man Yoshinori Muto to make it 1-2:
It was 2-2 moments later, with Allan Saint-Maximin slipping in Miguel Almiron, who slotted home calmly after beating the offside trap:
Then, to complete the comeback and wrap up the victory, Joelinton did this:
Some think it was a moment of brilliance, others think it was a bad touch, but it’s another confidence boosting goal for the big Brazilian!
A good work out for the lads against Championship opposition – managed by ex-Mag Jonathan Woodgate – and great to see Joelinton get on the scoresheet once again after bagging in last weekend’s training match at St James’ Park.
As revealed by Lee Ryder, here’s the line up Steve Bruce went with and the changes he made in the second half:
(1st half): Dubravka – Krafth, Schar, Fernandez, Rose – Ritchie, Hayden, Shelvey, Lazaro – Astu – Muto.
(2nd half appearances): Darlow, Almiron, Yedlin, Lejeune, Lascelles, Manquillo, ASM, Bentaleb and Joelinton.
