George Caulkin reveals how Saudi takeover has exposed Steve Bruce to the real Mike Ashley

George Caulkin claims Mike Ashley STILL hasn’t had a single conversation with Steve Bruce about the ongoing takeover saga, also refusing to let the potential new owners speak to the current NUFC boss.

Speculation around the current gaffer’s job has been rife ever since talk of a takeover became public knowledge – something that is unfair on Bruce, regardless of what you may think of him – yet it seems there’s been zero communication from above.

Caulkin also highlights how the ongoing saga is starting to have a detrimental effect on the club’s current plans, with contract talks stalling while the ownership of NUFC remains up in the air.

Here’s a snippet from his latest piece for The Athletic, exposing Mike Ashley’s woeful lack of respect or communication skills once again:

“The head coach (Steve Bruce) has not had a single conversation with his ultimate boss since the takeover was made public.

His prospective new employers have not been permitted to talk to him.

“Uncertainty hangs above everybody and although the team are a solid 13th in the table, the saga has begun to affect issues such as player contracts.

Who makes those decisions? How do they function? Nobody quite knows what will happen next.”

Mike Ashley not giving Bruce any communication or clarity is hardly surprising, summing up the methods he has adopted ever since his arrival 13 years ago – just ask Kevin Keegan, Chris Hughton, or Rafa Benitez.

Bruce only had good things to say about Ashley in the first few months of his tenure on Tyneside, with him meeting the NUFC owner soon after arriving and being backed in both transfer windows, but he’s now see his true colours. Total neglect, no respect and zero communication.

As for the takeover saga itself, it is draining and now, by and large, boring as well. Is anybody still religiously following an update like they were back at the end of April and early May?

The Premier League are really making a mockery of the whole situation too. Nine weeks is an incredibly long time – regardless of the coronavirus pandemic!

  1. The longer the PL drag there feet over the takeover the longer I and thousands of other fans are still having payments taken on a monthly basis,
And not forgetting fans who have had the payment taken in one transaction.
It’s time our money was refunded back into our bank accounts, am seriously thinking about taking my case to the small claims court.
