Sheffield Utd set for TRIPLE boost ahead of NUFC clash? – but Chris Wilder isn’t happy…

Sheffield United could welcome back TWO key first-team players ahead of Sunday’s trip to Tyneside, Chris Wilder has revealed.

The Blades were without star midfielder John Fleck and centre-back regular Jack O’Connell in their 0-0 draw at Villa Park in midweek, however Wilder is ‘hopeful’ both will be fit to start at St James’ Park, with striker David McGoldrick also in contention – despite picking up a knock in midweek.

Considering Fleck is their joint top scorer and the man that keeps them ticking and O’Connell a defender who’d played every minute this season prior to Wednesday night’s stalemate, it could be a big boost for the Blades if both are fit.

Wilder will also be hoping all three make it given the need to rotate, with tomorrow’s game set to be Sheffield United’s second in 4 days.

They looked a little flat at Villa in midweek, failing to show the same level of energy and intensity they’ve been renowned for this season, however they were robbed in the end, with VAR or goal-line technology failing to recognise that Oliver Norwood’s free kick had clearly crossed the line.

As a result, Chris Wilder remains unhappy (as you would expect!), feeling the incident was ‘unacceptable’:

So, could they be wounded animals and boosted by the return of a few key players on Sunday, or will we face a frustrated Sheffield Utd side still recovering from Wednesday nights robbery?

We shall see, but we will need to be ‘at it’ to get a result, with the Blades proving hard to beat on the road this season in their incredible push for European qualification.
