I didn’t think my Sunday could get any better after I watched our return to football at St James’ Park end in a 3-0 win over Sheffield Utd – but it did.
Why? Because an absolute gem of a video emerged on social media a few hours after full time, showing a 93-year-old lady who’d just beaten COVID-19 celebrating our big win!

It’s been a tough few months for so many of us, whether that be via the struggles in self-isolation, being unable to see family members or even losing a loved one to the deadly virus, however this is one of the brilliant success stories.
A 3-0 victory on our first game back is one thing, but seeing a 93-year-old celebrate like this after defeating COVID-19 is the biggest win of the weekend for me!
