FA Cup boost for NUFC as Man City star is now set to miss Sunday’s quarter final at SJP

Sergio Aguero is a serious doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup clash, with Pep Guardiola revealing a knee injury picked up by the Argentine last night “doesn’t look good”.

City’s all time record goalscorer has been the ultimate thorn in our side since his arrival to the Premier League in 2011, notching a ridiculous 15 goals in just 13 games against us.

Aguero was substituted for Gabriel Jesus before the break in their 5-0 win over Burnley last night, and the comments that have followed from Pep Guardiola suggest he’s almost certain to miss Sunday’s big game as a result:

City have struggled at St James’ Park in recent times, conceding an equaliser in the last-minute to a Shelvey wonder goal earlier in the season while blowing a 1-0 lead the year before to lose the game 2-1.

While Aguero is an obvious miss for any side, City possess one of the best squads in world football, and thrashed Burnley last night – despite starting De Bruyne, Sterling, Jesus and Sane on the bench.

On last night’s showing we are really up against it this weekend – they’ve won their two games since lockdown by an aggregate score of 8-0! – but you would expect us to have more fight in us than Burnley, who didn’t even look as though they wanted to be there last night and simply rolled over.

If we had a full crowd at St James’ roaring the lads on you could easily fancy us for a shock upset, but the boys will really have to dig in deep if we are to progress to the next round against a top quality Man City side.

That said, with Aguero out and us looking fit, sharp and fully motivated in that 3-0 win over Sheffield Utd, you just never know!
