A video has emerged of Steve Bruce interrupting Kevin De Bruyne‘s post-match interview following our 2-0 defeat to Man City last night – joking that the Belgian superstar was going nowhere and staying at St James’ Park!
De Bruyne was in fine form yesterday and proved once again why he is widely regarded as the best player in the Premier League, but that didn’t stop Bruce cheekily asking for him to stay on Tyneside.
Here’s the moment Bruce interrupted his post-match interview in amusing (and slightly cringeworthy!) fashion after the game:
“He’s got to stay here and come here.
“That’s an exclusive out of Newcastle tonight!
“He’s had enough of Manchester City and he’s going to come and play for Newcastle!”
“Well played!”
You’ve got to laugh at Bruce’s McClaren-esque accent during the clip – the sort of stunt you often attempt while abroad on holiday!
Who knows, if this Saudi takeover finally gets given the green light by the Premier League, the thought of seeing a player somewhere close to De Bruyne in a black and white kit may not sound like such an imaginary dream after all?
