Just a few days ago I wrote a piece on Adam Armstrong’s breakthrough season at Blackburn after his stunning free-kick against Leeds took him up to 21 goal involvements for 2019/20.
A few days on and he’s only gone and scored another screamer, this time from 45 yards out in Blackburn’s 3-2 win over Cardiff on Tuesday night!
Watch it below, with this being the winner in his side’s five-goal thriller in Wales:
This now makes it 15 goals and 7 assists for Armstrong this season, with only Brentford’s Said Benrahma being involved in more goals in 2020 so far – a player I’d love to see at St James’ Park this summer, for what it’s worth!
Back to Armstrong, this is the second stunner he’s scored in just 4 days, with him also doing this against Leeds over the weekend:
There was a time where he was scoring goals for fun during loan spells in League One but struggled to replicate that form in the Championship when loaned out to Bolton and Barnsley.
A few years on, however, and he’s showing the sort of form that’s making many believe he’s actually too good for the second tier and will be back in the top flight before long, with it reported recently that he’s being watched by a host of Premier League scouts.
Another talented youngster we let go a little too soon?
As sad as it is that he is hitting form after leaving us, he had to go, more often than not a player will blossom at a different club under different tactics because the ones he was used to doing don’t help him develop, it’s not just the toon this happens to, all the clubs have players who flop till they leave then become big elsewhere, that’s just football. I hope that young Adam does end up back in the premier league whether it be back with us or elsewhere, good on ya lad.
