NUFC linked with shock loan move for £50m flop & Bruce interested in Bournemouth star?

Newcastle United have today been credited with interest in two previously linked strikers – Luka Jovic and Callum Wilson.

The ambitious Jovic links comes from the Shields Gazettte, who report that NUFC scouts have been doing some groundwork over a potential loan move for the Real Madrid striker struggling badly for game time.

He’s scored just twice across 2019/20 but has rarely been anything more than a late sub since securing a £50m move to the Bernabeu following his 27-goal season in Germany the year before.

Using the loan market wisely could be a smart move now our summer budget will be impacted by COVID-19 (should a takeover collapse, that is), however we’d do very well to get the 22-year-old Serbian at St James’ Park for a season!

Elsewhere, an ‘exclusive’ from The Express claim Steve Bruce will urge the club to make a move for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson should the Cherries drop back into the Championship this weekend.

The report claims Bruce has been watching the 28-year-old all season and believes he is the man who could add some much needed firepower to his goal-shy attack.

A £20m move is touted, however it may take more than that to sign a proven Premier League striker who’s been involved in 57 goals in 125 appearances since making thr step up to top flight football.

Two talented strikers who could bring firepower to our attack, however the Jovic link seems unlikely to come off given the amount of interest that would arrive should he be available on loan.

As for Wilson, you wonder if this is a deal that only becomes realistic should new owners arrive. After all, would Mike Ashley sanction a big money move for a 28-year-old when this is the same man that said no to Salomon Rondon this time last year? I’d also argue Wilson might receive better offers (and cost more than £20m) should Bournemouth be forced to sell this summer.

Who knows, but one thing’s for sure – we need a new striker this summer and both could improve us massively.
