According to The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, Newcastle United are interested in signing Bournemouth’s Josh King this summer.
The Norwegian striker is one of several star men the Cherries will have to cash in on this summer if they are relegated on Sunday and is a player we’ve been regularly linked with for a few years now.
He was believed to be a target of Rafa Benitez’s, but Lee Ryder’s latest transfer piece for The Chronicle reveals that he’s “certainly” a player Steve Bruce is eager to sign in the coming weeks – despite fellow strike partner Callum Wilson being linked yesterday.
The 28-year-old may well be a ‘Championship player’ when the transfer window opens on Monday, but King would be a brilliant signing.
Not only is he quick, strong and able to play anywhere across the front, he’s also proven himself to be capable of getting into double figures in the Premier League, scoring 42 goals across over the last four seasons in an average Bournemouth side.
There’ll be plenty competition if they do suffer relegation at Everton on Sunday and I have my doubts about our ability to match their price tag if Mike Ashley remains in control over the summer, however he could be someone well worth pursuing in our hunt for added fire power in the final third.
With him out of contract next summer and likely to be sold this summer, this is a player well worth pursuing – whether a takeover happens or not.

10ish goals per season in a average Bournemouth side? Are they any more average than us? But would take 10 goal 9f 1 forward as out strikers will not get that. ⚫⚪

Josh King – where after a top striker and we get someone who averages 10 goals a season – we need someone who can score 20+?????
