During a passionate interview with The Athletic’s George Caulkin last Thursday, Amanda Staveley sent this message to Newcastle United fans following the collapse of a Saudi-backed takeover bid that promised a much needed injection of investment into our football club and beloved region:
‘If they want this back on they’re going to have to go back to the Premier League and say this isn’t fair’.
Now, in a joint push from Newcastle United fan groups in support of the NUST – who held discussions with Amanda Staveley over the weekend – it’s never been more important for us fans to come unite and do what we can to gain the answers we deserve from the Premier League.
So, what can Newcastle fans actually do to help? Here’s three simple ways to show your support and make a difference:
- 1. Write to your MP here to demand transparency from the Premier League over the NUFC takeover (There’s already been over 2,200 sent since 9am and, with a template already set for those in a rush, it’s 1-minute job that ALL fans can easily complete).
- 2. Sign the petition here asking for an independent investigation into the EPL takeover process (it’s just passed 80,000 signatures but we need to keep pushing to break the 100,000 mark).
- 3. Become a member of the NUST – our best vehicle for change given they are recognised by the Premier League. With strength in numbers comes a stronger message and a greater chance of gaining the resolution we all desire.
