Journalist drops NUFC transfer hint during play-off final between Brentford & Fulham

An intriguing transfer hint emerged from CBS Sports reporter Roger Gonzalez during last night’s Championship play-off final between Brentford and Fulham.

Speaking midway through the big ‘£100m match’ at Wembley, Gonzalez revealed that Newcastle’s DeAndre Yedlin may be an ‘interested spectator’, claiming the full-back has received ‘early interest’ from one of the two clubs.

An interesting line given the USA international looks set to be moved on this summer after four years at St James’ Park:

It was ex-Mag Scott Parker who emerged from Wembley victorious, meaning Fulham will be joining us in the Premier League next season – and I’d like to bet they are the club claimed to be showing interest here.

After all, Yedlin doesn’t appear the sort of player Brentford would bring in based on their impressive recruitment record and uncanny ability to breed hidden gems such as Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins.

Who knows, it may be rubbish and a non-starter for the 27-year-old, but my money would be on Fulham when it comes to which one of the two have allegedly made their interest in our American speedster known.

Either way, with him entering the final 12 months of his current contract and appearing to be our third choice option at right-back as things stand, it appears his time on Tyneside will come to an end this summer.
