Sky Sports claim we are one of FOUR Premier League clubs showing interest in former Chelsea forward Betrand Traore.
The Bukina Faso star has spent the past three seasons at Lyon after an impressive spell at Ajax, and it’s reported the Ligue 1 giants would be prepared to cash in on the 24-year-old this summer.
Here’s the snippet from Sky Sports‘ latest transfer piece by chief writer Kaveh Solkehol, which claims Newcastle, Leicester, Everton and Palace have all been watching him:
Lyon are prepared to sell former Chelsea winger Bertrand Traore this summer and he has been watched by a long list of Premier League clubs including Newcastle United, Leicester City, Everton and Crystal Palace.
Lyon paid Chelsea £9m for Traore three years ago after he had impressed during loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and Ajax.
Traore is a versatile forward, being able to play up top or on the right-hand side, although he’s often played out wide since leaving Chelsea.
He completed a £9m move to Lyon three years ago and has bagged 33 goals and 17 assists in that time, with his best season coming in 2017/18 – a year that saw him score 18 and set up a further 7 in all competitions.
It’s been said that Bruce wants to sign a host of British players this summer, with the likes of Callum Wilson, David Brooks and Harry Wilson all linked, but it seems far more likely to me, based on our limited budget, that we explore Europe for cut-price alternatives like Traore.
A talented player who could be a decent signing, however he could not be seen as the proven scorer we so badly need this summer.
Here’s him in action at Lyon:
