Lascelles receives ‘interest’ from Premier League club 2 years on from £25m bid – Report

West Ham are showing ‘interest’ in Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles this summer, according to some new whispers in the

This comes from popular West Ham news and views account ExWHUemployee, who claim in their latest ‘exclusive’ that David Moyes is an admirer of the 26-year-old.

West Ham are said to be in the market for another centre-back this summer, with Winston Reid and Fabian Balbuena both linked with summer exits, however it’s feared Lascelles might be out of their budget – despite long-term interest.

Speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night, here’s what ExWHUemployee had to say:

“There is also interest in Lascelles at Newcastle who has been linked before.

I don’t think we will be able to get him in terms of our price range.

But he is someone who is being looked at.”

This isn’t the first time Lascelles has been linked with a potential move to the London Stadium, with Sky Sports reporting that we rejected a £25m bid from the Hammers in the summer of 2018:

That said, it sounds like he may not be an affordable option for them this summer – and it’s just as well, even if he appears to be a player we have no interest as selling as our first-choice centre-back and club captain.

The skipper doesn’t get the credit he deserves for me. Many point towards his limitations on the ball, however we never look anywhere near as solid without him in the side.

We concede more when he’s absent and often look lost defensively without his leadership, presence and ability to communicate from the back.
