Woodman ‘on the brink’ of Championship move after agreeing new deal at SJP – Report

Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is ‘on the brink’ of re-joining Swansea City on a season-long loan deal, according to reports in Wales.

This comes from Wales Online, who claim that the 23-year-old will sign a contract extension at St James’ Park before completing a season-long loan move to South Wales.

The former England U-21 international has just come off the back of an impressive first season with the Swans, with his 12 clean sheets in 43 appearances helping Steve Cooper’s side qualify for the Championship play-offs on the final day of 2019/20.

Woodman had previously gone public regarding his interest in returning to Swansea and it seems he’s got his wish, with this being a deal that appears to suit all parties.

He was entering the final 12 months of his contract on Tyneside and it was feared at one stage that we could cash in on the highly-rated stopper, however a new long-term deal at Newcastle and another loan move to a top half Championship side is ideal.

Good luck to him!
