Newcastle set to offer two players in part-exchange bid for Bournemouth star – Report

According to The Mirror, Newcastle United are prepared to offer TWO players to Bournemouth in an attempt to sign Callum Wilson.

They report that Steve Bruce is prepared to send them former player Matt Ritchie AND Dwight Gayle in a bid to land Wilson – the £25m-rated striker who’s believed to be our number one attacking target this summer.

Although this would be a way of saving cash and leaving room to manoeuvre with our limited budget of just £30m, Ritchie doesn’t strike me as a player the NUFC boss will be keen to let go of.

I can see why we’d offer Gayle out – and Bournemouth may well be keen given his record in the second tier – but he is another useful squad option, with him proving his worth after lockdown with four goals and an assist over our final eight games of the season.

That said, a proven goalscorer is key and some will argue both Ritchie and Gayle are past their best.

A deal worth doing or one that seems a bit generous in Bournemouth’s favour?

  1. Good deal for Newcastle, Ritchie is limited in what he can do, yes passion, commitment, but no pace or 1 on 1 skill, not great assets for a winger. Gayle is a lightweight for the premier league. 2 for 1 suits NUFC if AFCB will take on their PL contracts. Do it !
