Steve Bruce has sent a bold transfer message to Newcastle fans during an interview with Sports Sports today.
In his chat with Keith Downie, he’s insisted that the club will bring ‘2, 3 or 4’ new players through the door before the season begins on September 12th – meaning we could be in for a busy three weeks if Bruce lives up to his promise!
Here’s what he told Sky Sports in a ‘direct message to Newcastle fans concerned about the lack of signings’:
“Make no mistake, there will be 2, 3 or 4 new faces through the door before we start back.
“We need to replace the 3 loan players, we’ve brought in Hendrick – and we have one or two things bubbling away.”
“It’s easy for me to get four or five players in tomorrow but the thing is we have to box clever.
“I’m knocking down the door every day in an attempt to improve the squad.”
This comes after Bruce confirmed Jeff Hendrick’s move to Newcastle United was “practically done”, with both he and Matty Longstaff set to sign deals at the club before the week is out.
As for Bruce’s other comments on the transfer front, it’s clear his budget has been hit badly from COVID-19, however he does seem both confident and determined that we’ll sign at LEAST a two more ahead of the new 2020/21 season.
Let’s hope he delivers on his promise and we get a much needed goalscorer and more through the door before September 12th!
