NUFC’s left-back bid takes new twist – Offer confirmed but price tag changes after UCL win?

Over the weekend, a few reports from around Europe claimed we’d submitted a €4.5m bid for Greek international star Dimitrios Giannoulis.

The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas then hinted that there was “something in this one” in reaction to the rumours, and the Shields Gazette’s Miles Starforth has now confirmed a £4m bid HAS been submitted for the left-back.

That said, PAOK’s stance on that £4m offer may have changed following their Champions League qualifier win over Besiktas on Tuesday night.

Giannoulis bagged yet another assist in the game with a brilliant cutback to give them an early lead, and his eye-catching performance combined with PAOK’s progression in the Champions League appears to have changed matters.

Giannis Chorianopoulous – a Sportime reporter and the first Greek reporters to break news of our interest – believes that PAOK will now demand MORE than €6m for this this summer after last night’s big win.

Chorianopoulous has since tweeted that we ‘lead the race‘ to sign him, but it seems we may have to make a new offer in excess of £5.5m if we want to land the talented 24-year-old

Here’s a clip of him in action last night, with him bagging an assist to give PAOK an early lead over Besiktas:

  1. Lets hope he has a **** game next time out so the price will drop????

    Never read so much drivvle.

If we have agreed a price then that’s that, deal could be off if he decides to stay but from my last purchase the price of beer didn’t go up because It tasted good.
