Andy Carroll scores again in pre-season friendly vs Barnsley – 2 in 2 for the NUFC striker

Andy Carroll may not have scored in his first full season back at Newcastle United, but he’s just made it two goals in two games in pre-season today!

The big man scored a stunner in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Crewe, and he’s just opened the scoring in our behind closed doors friendly against Barnsley at the club’s Benton training base.

The game finished 2-1 to the Toon, with Jacob Murphy’s penalty sealing the win after the Tykes equalised a few minutes into the second half.

Heres’ the XI Bruce went with against the Championship side, with the only half time change being Gillespie for Darlow in goal:

(4-2-3-1): Darlow – Krafth, Fernandez, Clark, Dummett – Hayden, Shelvey – Hendrick, S Longstaff, Ritchie – Carroll.

Great to see the 31-year-old finding the net again and a confidence boost for Murphy too after being given another chance to impress by Bruce!
