Interesting comments from Gini Wijnaldum on NUFC target & Liverpool star Rhian Brewster

Former Mag Gini Wijnaldum has recently commented on the talents of our loan target Rhian Brewster – and it’s fair to say he has no doubts about his ability in front of goal.

The England U-21 star has had a breakthrough 2020 – scoring 11 times in 22 games on loan at Swansea City, as well as bagging three times already in pre-season for Liverpool.

The Chronicle have confirmed our interest in the striker, but admit that Aston Villa, Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Fulham are also keen to have him for the 2020/21 season.

Wijnaldum had this to say ahead of their Community Shields clash with Arsenal – a game Brewster is being tipped to be involved in:

I’m not ‘impressed’, because I know already which kind of quality he has.

“We trained together for a few years and he showed also in training that his finishing is unbelievable.

“So I’m not really ‘impressed‘, it’s what he does!”

Jurgen Klopp has also been full of praise, calling the youngster a “natural goalscorer” recently.

Despite his inexperience, it does seem clear that the 20-year-old possesses the quality in front of goal to cut it at the highest level.

He clearly has an array of clubs looking to sign him, but loan deal for Brewster would be ideal for Newcastle this season – esepcailly now we need TWO strikers following Gayle’s latest injury.

There’s currently only one fully-fit striker at the club in Andy Carroll and we are desperate for goals. Not to forget that loan deals may be the only way Steve Bruce will be able to bring in Premier League talent, due to his limited budget of around £30m.

Let’s hope that former NUFC men James Milner and Wijnaldum can put a good word in for us to Brewster!
