NUFC set to offer Matt Ritchie plus cash in bid to sign Bruce’s top target – talkSPORT

According to talkSPORT, Newcastle are looking to offer Matt Ritchie to Bournemouth in a ‘swap deal’ that could see us sign Callum Wilson.

The Cherries striker has been described as Steve Bruce’s ‘top target’ on several occasions this summer, although it seems his limited transfer coupled with Bournemouth’s alleged asking price of around £30m has made any deal extremely difficult to do so far.

Now, talkSPORT’s Alex Crooks claims we are so keen to sign the 28-year-old that we’re set to offer them former player Matt Ritchie in a potential part-exchange:

I’m told Callum Wilson will be leaving Bournemouth as well and again he’s been linked with Tottenham.

But I’ve heard Newcastle are very keen as well and there could even be a swap deal for Matt Ritchie heading in the opposite direction back to the Cherries.

He claims a ‘swap deal’ could be on the cards, however you’d have to think it would be a part-exchange plus cash – something that may end up suiting all parties given our limited budget and the fact Ritchie has been linked with a potential move back down South for some time now.

Elsewhere, Crooks also claims that fellow Bournemouth striker and NUFC target Josh King could be on his way to Spurs:

My understanding is Josh King’s agent flew over to London last week, so talks have begun with Tottenham.

I think that’ll be a good move for Spurs because he’s someone who can provide backup to Harry Kane but can also play out wide, so he offers that versatility.

I’d like to bet Dwight Gayle would’ve been offered in a player plus cash deal had he been fit, but could it now be Matt Ritchie that’s used as a makeweight?

It could be one way of luring Wilson to Tyneside on a restricted budget, not that Bruce will be in any rush to lose a reliable senior figure like Ritchie – someone we’d have to replace if he went the other way.

  1. Wilson scores goals….a good deal all round and Matty gets a decent contract as well.
Sad to see him go, but time we moved on in a positive manner.

  2. This is made up pile of rubbish. Richie is going nowhere as for Wilson he’ll not becoming in this direction either.
