Sky Sports have revealed this morning that both Newcastle United and Aston Villa are in talks to sign Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.
This comes via North East correspondent Keith Downie, who claims we’ve trying to put together a deal that would see the Cherries receive Matt Ritchie plus cash for Wilson, while Villa’s bid would be a cash offer.
Here’s what Downie tweeted just a few moments ago:
Some will wonder if this gives Villa the edge, however Lee Ryder has revealed that Bournemouth are very keen to have Ritchie back on the South Coast, meaning they could well favour a part-exchange that includes the current NUFC winger plus cash.
See his latest update on the deal below:
Ritchie’s energy and attitude would be a big miss, but I do feel his all round game is a little limited these days and wonder where he fits in now Bruce looks set to go with a formation that doesn’t use wing-backs. After all, does he have the pace and dynamism to still cause Premier League defence problems as an out and out winger?
If we could get this deal done AND sign Ryan Fraser on a free to replace Ritchie, it could be great business for Newcastle United.

No brainer to me. Wilson and Fraser would be good business. Doubt whether Ritchie would get much game time with us next season anyway .
