Bruce plans to announce new signing in next 48 hours & 2 other deals being worked on – Report

The Shields Gazette report that Steve Bruce is hoping to announce the signing of Ryan Fraser before Saturday’s pre-season friendly with Stoke City at St James’ Park.

They report that a deal to sign the former Bournemouth winger is “very close”, with the club hoping he’ll put pen to paper in the next 48 hours.

Sky Sports’ Keith Downie reported yesterday that personal terms hadn’t been agreed as of yet, but Miles Startforth seems to think the move is edging closer to completion – and crucially states that the Scot is ‘keen’ to sign.

Elsewhere, the Shields Gazette also report that deals for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and Arsenal’s Rob Holding are still being worked on behind the scenes.

They state that we are putting together a Matt Ritchie plus cash package for Callum Wilson – although we may need to get our skates on here, with the BBC reporting last night that Aston Villa are set to make a £20m bid.

As for Rob Holding, the Gazette report that a loan deal is still in the pipeline, but may be delayed as we attempt to move on one of Fabian Schar and Florian Lejeune to make space for his arrival.

  1. It always worries me when deals are played out in public. It feels as thought they drag on and on and then never happen. I can’t blame anyone for wanting to put the news out and speculate on it but sometimes I just wish nothing was said until it was all signed, sealed and delivered!

  2. Ryan Fraser epitomises everything that is wrong with football and the modern professional footballer. What he did to Bournemouth was a disgrace and yet clubs like ours are quite willing to pay the treacherous little dog 100k a week. It sounds like he has a touch of the Nzogbias and I hope he has nothing but bad luck.
