The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has revealed the opening offer that has arrived on the table for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson – and it’s not from Newcastle United.
The North-East correspondent reports that Aston Villa have now made an offer of £15m, plus £5m in add-ons, for the 28-year-old striker this morning.
At our end, it’s been made clear that he’s a top target of Steve Bruce’s and that an offer of Matt Ritchie plus cash is being put together, however it’s unclear if an official bid has landed at Bournemouth’s door as of yet.
With Aston Villa a bottom half ‘rival’ of ours and another club who are in desperate need of a Premier League proven striker this summer, this is a transfer battle we must do everything to win.
On the plus side, Craig Hope has also reported that Callum Wilson favours a move to St James’ Park, while Bournemouth also appear keen to bring Matt Ritchie back to the club, but it’s time we got moving to make sure we don’t miss out on this one.
The big question for me is what sort of money are we prepared to offer alongside Ritchie?
If Villa’s bid really is £15m plus a potential £5m in add-ons, I suspect an offer of Matt Ritchie plus £10m could do the trick – not that any of these offers tie in with The Chronicle’s claims that Bournemouth are demanding £30m for their star striker.
