Newcastle offered the chance to sign former Chelsea forward as agent makes contact – Report

We have once again been linked to Lyon’s mercurial winger Bertrand Traoré, this time by French outlet Foot Mercato.

The report claims that we have been ‘targeted’ by the former Chelsea winger’s agent and offered the chance to sign him, with Traoré looking set to depart the Champions League semi-finalists this summer.

Interestingly, Sky Sports linked the 24-year-old with a move to Newcastle last month – stating that we were one of several Premier League clubs who’d been ‘watching’ Traore ahead of the summer transfer window.

So, it seems we are looking at the Burkino Faso international very closely, as Steve Bruce weighs up his attacking options in the transfer market, but whether we’ll make a move is another matter.

Foot Mercato report that Fulham have had a ‘low-ball’ bid rejected, with Lyon demanding just over £20m for the forward.

Despite registering a handy 33 goals and 17 assists in just three seasons – he only scored once in Ligue 1 last term and made just 23 league appearances.

He could be one to watch later in the window – especially if Lyon back down and entertain a loan deal with an option to buy – but it seems like Bruce’s priorities lie with Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser for now.
