NUFC contact Arsenal & Liverpool over deals for England U-21 attackers – The Telegraph

Some interesting claims have emerged from The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards regarding a few loan deals the club have in mind over the next month.

A deal for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson appears to be in the pipeline, with Edwards stating that we are ‘increasingly confident’ of beating Aston Villa to his signature, but he believes Bruce is in the market for TWO strikers – and could utilise the loan market to bring in another.

His reports that we’ve asked Liverpool to keep us informed over the availability of Rhian Brewster – who may or may not be allowed to leave – and also reveals that Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah is being eyed up as another loan target.

We knew of our interest in Brewster, who scored 11 in 22 games at Swansea last season, but this is the first time we’ve been linked with a move for Nketiah – who bagged a hat-trick for England’s U-21’s in a 4-0 win over Kosovo on Friday night.

It seems like it would be one or the other, however, and it’s also worth noting that we’re only able to sign ONE player on loan from a single club – meaning loan deals for Rob Holding AND Eddie Nketiah wouldn’t be possible.

Elsewhere, Edwards expects Ryan Fraser to complete a medical this weekend and understands that Norwich’s Jamal Lewis is ‘expected’ to seal a move to St James’ Park in the coming days.

If all the above is true and we’re planning to sign a striker on loan AFTER Wilson signs, it sounds like the club have finally pulled their finger out and reacted quickly to news Dwight Gayle will be missing for up to three months.

  1. IMMAGINE having an owner who has money & will invest in the success of club, looking fwd to a season where we might win something, having a season where success is not finishing 4th bottom. This is not going to happen this season or ever as long as Ashley is owner. There is just no point anymore 😥

For gods sake how long does it take to get a medical? Same story for a week

His agent will be demanding treble what Newcastle are willing to pay ?
