If seeing Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser put pen to paper at St James’ Park wasn’t enough already, it’s now emerged that a THIRD player looks set to arrive on Tyneside over the coming hours.
That man is Jamal Lewis, with Sky Sports’ Keith Downie confirming in the last few moments that the 22-year-old has now withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad that was set to face Norway at 7.45pm tonight.
This will allow the left-back to then travel to the North-East and complete his medical at the club, with it seeming as though a £15m deal will go through in the next 24 hours:
Northern Ireland boss Ian Barraclough recently insisted that he would NOT be allowed to leave, however it seems there was a slight concern surrounding the risk of injury should he have stayed:
“A lot of stuff has been going on with him.
“There’s a little niggle and we didn’t want to risk him.
“It wasn’t a risk we were going to take.”
Another exciting piece of news for us Newcastle United fans on a day full of quality signings at St James’ Park!
